2009 Winter Fashion Trends
2009 Winter Fashion Trends
Fashion trends are constantly changing and there is something for everyone every season so often it is a matter of finding what works best for you. This winter though there are some great items that work well with all body types and looks. Not only that but these trends are some that seem to be sticking around for a while so you won’t be purchasing something just to throw it away and buy something new next year.
The first amazing trend for this winter are the over the knee boots. These boots can be found in a variety of colors and lengths so finding the one for you will be easy. These boots also look great with tights, leggings, jeans or all by themselves. If you are feeling more daring you can even go thigh high which is also in this season. Two things to avoid when picking out a pair of these boots are chunky heels and a high sheen patent finish.
This winter texture is playing a big role with the chunkiest of knits keeping us warm. While some chunky knits can look overwhelming and dowdy, open weave detail showing a peep of skin are a must have. There are several ways you can wear chunky knits, the easiest is to wear it as an accessory, such as a chunky knit scarf. The sweater and jumper look are also easy to pull off and are so comfortable and warm.
Keeping with the daring trend this season, one-shouldered pieces are hot. Asymmetric shoulder lines have made a huge return this year making women all over the world feel sultry. The possibilities on how to wear this are limitless as well. A one shouldered bikini, dress or top are a few ways that this item is being worn this year. And better yet, this aesthetically pleasing trend has the ability to make up for any bodily flaws, such as a small chest.
Another great female trend this year is the dandy. Dandy fashion stands for everything masculine turned girly whether it is bows, ruffles, tailored waist coats or brooches. Menswear is feminized for a sexy yet empowering look. Wearing this trend is easy as well; you can look for this in vests, coats, sweaters and blazers. Some key elements for this trend are Britishness, high collars, ruffles, bow blouses, cropped slim cut jackets, waist coats, tailored vests, fob chains, and frock and tail coats.
One last trend that is going to be highly popular this season is military fashion. Military fashion does not mean wearing your grandfather’s old military uniform but it does mean feminized pieces with sharp cuts, gold detailing and ornate trims. With this look you can go rocker chic, feminine or bohemian luxe. The easiest way to pull off this trend is with a coat.
So whether you are going for warm or daring there is something for you this season. Visit any of your local fashion outlets and you are sure to find something that will keep you trendy this season.

2009 Autumn and Winter Fashion Trends
2009 Autumn and Winter Fashion Trends
Autumn and winter fashions have been paving the runways for months, shedding light on this year’s hottest trends. From styles, colours, and textures to key season pieces, anyone can shop for autumn and winter apparel with an eye for top 2009 trends.
One way to follow 2009’s autumn and winter fashions is to grasp some of the key “looks” and themes making their way through the seasons. For instance, two of the main eras that have appeared in many season collections include the 1940s and the 1980s – with ’40s styles offering practical fabrics like wools and tweeds, and ’80s trends accentuating the shoulders and displaying loud colours and patterns.
What’s more, two key themes running through the seasons include: the merging of masculine with feminine styles – for instance, a pairing of masculine tailoring with ruffled and lacy pieces – and the glamour punk and grunge look – brining leather, studs, zips, buckles, and metallics into the limelight.
When it comes to key fashion trends, colours make up a major component of style. This year’s seasonal colours include black, grey in all shades, warm golds and rich browns. However, bright, colourful hues – such as red, pink, purple, blues of all tones and different greens – will help break up the winter hues. Animal prints – from zebra stripes to leopard spots – are also emerging within the 80s trends, as are monochrome combination prints. Key textures include leather, velvet, silk, wools, tweeds, shearling and sheepskins, not to mention sequinned and sparkly fabrics.
Once you’re familiar with this autumn and winter’s themes, colours and textures, you’ll want to keep an eye out for a set of key season pieces, some of which include classic camel coats, professional white shirts, skirt suits, chic pencil skirts, one-shoulder dress, and boots of every kind. Leggings are also making a huge comeback, paired with dresses and chunky sweaters.
Finally, who could forget the little black dress? A classic element for any season, but an absolute must this autumn and winter. Whether you choose to go with a full-layered skirt or a more fitted look, make the little black dress one of your first buys this season. Structured dresses are another major element of 2009’s hottest trends.
Keeping these simple yet defining fashion guidelines in mind, you’re set to approach 2009’s autumn and winter fashion trends with an eye for what’s in and be the focal point of your friends’ fashion questions.
